The 2024 Montgomery County Villages Collective Impact Report
This report offers a picture of the activities of Montgomery County's 30 active villages and 7 developing villages.  In FY24, the data provided by villages shows a significant increase in social and educational events, volunteer services, and collaborative efforts to better serve their communities.
Village of Takoma Park is proud to be a part of this nation-wide movement supporting older adults who choose to age in place.

Join others for a walk on Sligo Creek Parkway Thursday, Febuary 20, at 11 AM (if temperatures are 40 or above).  Meet inside the lower level entrance of the Community Center.

Give us a call at 301-646-2109 if you'd like to know more about volunteering.  We can ALWAYS use more drivers! 

And remember that rides are available for all Village members who live in Takoma Park, regardless of income level.

WELCOME TO THE VILLAGE OF TAKOMA PARK
Need a ride to go shopping or to the doctor?  Are chores that were once easy becoming challenging?  Would you like to help neighbors facing these challenges?

Welcome to the Village of Takoma Park, a mostly-volunteer, grass roots, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization of neighbors helping neighbors.

Research shows that the majority of  Americans prefer to stay in their homes and communities in spite of age or disability. The goal of the Village of Takoma Park is to provide intergenerational support to seniors (55+) and adults with disabilities who wish to live actively in the Takoma Park community.

Though independent of both the City of Takoma Park and Montgomery County, the Village helps to promote and facilitate access to information about County and City services, and collaborates with the City and County in their efforts to serve residents aged 55+ as well as disabled residents of all ages, connecting them with resources, services and programs.

 

Services (some free to all residents; some requiring membership) currently being either offered or promoted by the Village include transportation through the VillageRides program, friendly visits, monthly"Aging Well" events, "senior stroll" (walking partners), special support groups, errands service and help with small home repairs and household tasks.  We also offer cultural and arts programs - trips to concerts, book talks, museums and more. 

Membership in the Village of Takoma Park is open to all, regardless of age or place of residence. Services are available only to residents of Takoma Park, MD or zip code 20912 (in Montgomery County).  Dues are $25 per year.  If this is a hardship, please contact us at 301-646-2109 or villageoftp@gmail.com.
