Please join Docs in Progress as they showcase the talents of local filmmaking students from Montgomery Blair High School in collaboration with the Village of Takoma Park.
The films produced by the students highlight the vibrant lives of 2 Takoma Park residents, Joann Malone and Larry Rawlings.
Come support our community and enjoy the film screenings, Q&A sessions with the filmmakers, and more.
Village Reels is the intergenerational filmmaking program from Docs In Progress. Piloted in 2022 between students from Montgomery County High Schools and adults 55+ who live in communities with "aging-in-place villages", the program's objective is to advance racial and cultural equity with the belief that if we do not remember the past, then we are apt to repeat it.
Now in its third year, participating schools include Montgomery Blair, Wheaton and Northwood with the Villages of Takoma Park, Silver Spring and Kensington.
This Village Reel Cohort is funded, in part, by a City of Takoma Park Community Quality of Life Grant and the Maryland State Arts Council-Arts in Education.
The Village of Takoma Park was pleased to be able to participate in this project.
This event is free and open to all, but please reserve your attendance at:
