About this event
On Friday April 5th we will visit the National Smithsonian Museum of Asian Art, located on the National Mall.
We will see the exhibit Park Chan-kyong: Gathering.
Seoul-based artist Park Chan-kyong has gained international recognition for his use of photography and film to examine the complex history of modern Korea. Park Chan-kyong: Gathering will be the first solo presentation of his work in a major US museum. The exhibition features a range of works that highlight his masterful use of the photographic medium to explore the enduring traces of tradition, history, and disaster in contemporary society. A multichannel video, Citizen’s Forest, anchors this exhibition of five recent works.
If there is time and interest, we will also see Anyang: China’s Ancient City of Kings
Anyang: China’s Ancient City of Kings is the first major exhibition in the United States dedicated to Anyang, the capital of China’s Shang dynasty (occupied ca. 1250 BCE–ca. 1050 BCE).
As always, we will meet at the Takoma Park Metro at 1:00pm on the platform near the elevator and take the first train after 1:00. Please bring a SmarTrip MetroCard.
