Your creative imagination is a terrific source of fresh energy, perfectly matched to the “work” of growing older. You are a natural story maker and we invite you to “connect the dots” of your life. Join a like-minded group to share and describe the experiences that have led us all to become the people we are today.
Join us on Thursday, June 19, for the next workshop in the Seasons of Creativity for Elders program: a six-week session titled Winnowing!
Winnowing
After a lifetime of experience, what have you learned?
Winnowing is a delightful six-week personal journaling workshop for elders who want to give written expression what they’ve learned from the lives they’ve led.
The ancient art of winnowing is the essence of this approach. In olden days, at harvest time, men and women would gather harvested grain in winnowing baskets, toss it high in the air where the wind would blow away the chaff while the nutritious grain fell back into the basket. Winnowing is the act of separating the essential and nutritious from the unnecessary.
David Oldfield wrote Winnowing in hopes of restoring the role of ‘elder’ to our modern communities. Too many old people fail to appreciate the wisdom they have gleaned from their lives… wisdom much-needed in today’s rudderless world. By responding to the right questions in a supportive group atmosphere, this wisdom is unlocked and given back to the world where it belongs.
The workshops are free; all materials will be provided. No talent is required. All we need from you is a willingness to say “YES!”
